1. To highlight the clinical implication of using either a liberal or restrictive RBC transfusion threshold on post hip surgery patients who are at risk for cardiovascular disease.
2. To review a randomized controlled trial addressing the benefits of a liberal or restrictive transfusion threshold on these patients.
3. To critically appraise the randomized controlled trial.
