Debra Lane, MD, FRCP(C)

Dr Debra Lane has been the Medical Director at Canadian Blood Services in Winnipeg since 1996. She graduated from the University of Calgary and completed her Family Medicine Training at the FoothillsHospital in Calgary. After working as a Family doctor, she obtained addtional speciality training in Hematopathology at the University of Alberta Hospital. She subsequently completed a Research Fellowship in Platelet Crossmatching at the Edmonton Red Cross. After a time in Private Laboratory Practice she moved to Winnipeg to focus on Transfusion Medicine. She enjoys teaching, and is currently the Examination Chair for the Royal College Speciality of Tranfusion Medicine.She is also acitive in Accreditation and has been an Assessor for AABB, CAP and the College of Physicians and Surgeons for Manitoba. Debra also has an interst in the development of Standards and has served on the Standards Committe for CSTM. She is currently the director at large for the Canadian Society for Transfusion Medicine.
